Alberto Agosti unveils his new exhibition, ALAGOS, a provocative and immersive journey through Milan’s historic workshops

Alberto Agosti (Piacenza, 1997) leads Alagos, an extensive project featuring four distinct events, each curated by a different notable figure in the art world. This initiative seeks to upend traditional views of ordinary spaces, reimagining settings such as an auto repair shop, a historic barbershop, a pharmacy, and a funeral home.

For the first act, the installation at Dario Cerquoni Elettrauto Per Hobby, curated by Nicolas Ballario, transforms the workshop itself into a work of art, inviting viewers to engage with the everyday and intimate nature of the space. The centerpiece, A Stenti, plays on the dual perception of a common object—a clothes rack turned into a prison—evoking the home as a moral confinement.

The journey will continue on September 23rd at Antica Farmacia Diana, accompanied by a text from Francesco Vezzoli. The artist will explore the relationship between care and tradition, creating a dialogue between the past and the present. This stage will delve into the persistence of cultural memory and its impact on our perception of contemporary reality.

On September 30th, the third stage, in collaboration with Onoranze Funebri Turati, will address themes of death and its resonance in culture and daily life. Here, the artist intertwines melancholy with a profound reflection on the cycle of life, engaging with the symbolism associated with this setting.

The project will conclude on October 7th at the historic Antica Barbieria Colla, where themes of personal transformation and identity will be examined within a context rich in tradition. This final event will reflect on how self-care, expressed through the art of barbering, intersects with Agosti’s artistic exploration.
