In between renaissance and contemporaneity, material and visual artistic forms, cinema and fashion, ASVOFF – A Shaded View on Fashion Film – celebrates its 10th anniversary at Altemps Palace, home of the National Roman Museum. Founded by the international fashion icon and journalist Diane Pernet, the festival challenging conventional cinema parameters will explore the style and beauty of the new fashion movie genre. The historical museum’s archaeological collection will co-exist with visionary projects and digital images in an immersive path through the evolving artistic research.
The event, curated by Alessio de’ Navasques, will be in collaboration with Bvlgari Jewelry Maison and take place as part of the as part of the first edition of Videocittà, dedicated to the industry and the professions of cinema.
“The Roman edition of ASVOFF is a tribute to the Eternal City through innovative audiovisual languages. The magnificent scenery of Palazzo Altemps will offer a magical combination of the art of yesterday and today. Rome will once again be an inexhaustible source of inspiration like Bvlgari has been for over 130 years.” Jean-Christophe Babin, Bvlgari Group’s chief executive cfficer said.
The festival will include workshops about the relation between fashion and art, including the screening of the films directed by John Malkovich for the Bella Freud brand, the discussion about fashion sustainability by Alan Friedman, the presentation about new expressive forms in fashion, photography and cinema by Valentina Ilardi…
ASVOFF has also launched a video contest with the theme “Your personal love affair with Rome”, so the best selected short films will be screened during the festival, with the Award Ceremony on the last night. The jury is composed by relevant figures in the world of art, fashion and cinema, including the Japanese actress and fashion designer Rila Fukushima, iconic fashion designer Pam Hogg, model and chef Cuba Tornado Scott, artist and filmmaker Pierre Bismuth, art curator Milovan Farronato, actor Alessandro Roja and journalist Marco Giusti.
