The MSGM FW25 collection is built around a principle that defines the entire creative process: lightness as a conscious construction, surpassing physical perception to explore the boundaries between form, substance, and emotion. A continuous tension permeates the collection, where the visible and the invisible, the material and the immaterial intertwine, creating a dialogue between what is shown and what remains hidden.
Inspired by the work of artist Alberonero, known for using tulle to explore these boundaries, the collection adopts the technique of layering light and matter, giving rise to three-dimensional effects that amplify the sense of suspension. Alberonero’s works evoke an atmosphere that oscillates between reality and dream, a dimension that perfectly mirrors MSGM’s vision for this season.
The second collaboration of the year is with Caterina Frongia, a textile artist who reinterprets the ancient tradition of Italian tapestry. Her works, characterized by the use of textured materials, natural yarns, and earthy colors, bring a strong element of intertwined lettering into the fabric, transforming words into a visual narrative that blends seamlessly with MSGM’s philosophy. Her woven elements take center stage in jacquard knitwear, t-shirts, and jerseys, merging traditional techniques with a contemporary language.
Tulle, a central element of the collection, becomes the thread that ties together an aesthetic playing with contrasts, inspired by Gorpcore. Layered in various color gradations ranging from red to acid yellow to pink, tulle is paired with materials like eco-fur, fleece, scuba, and leather, creating a visual and emotional tension. These contrasts impose themselves as a metaphor for the fusion of lightness and substance, a constant point of reflection.
In this collection, references are not mere decorations but genuine vehicles of communication. Every element, from words transformed into fabric to graphic details, is a thought made visible and tangible, taking fashion’s language to a new level of expression.
For the presentation, MSGM chose a unique venue: a novel space destined to become a new cultural hub and art gallery. This choice further reinforces the brand’s commitment to creating connections between fashion, art, and contemporary experimentation, offering a vision that transcends the traditional concept of the runway, in a meeting that celebrates the fluidity between different expressive languages.
