Helmut Lang Spring Summer 2018
Seen by Shayne Oliver
Changing and revivals: New York Fashion Week saw the debut of Hood By Air’s Shayne Oliver as the new designer in residence for Helmut Lang, he did it in the most personal but respectful way.
He kept style traces from the past, such as the minimalistic tailoring, the black & white color blocks. Oliver’s passion for deconstruction was revealed in many pieces of asymmetric bras, open-sean trousers and leather harnesses.
The casting was one of the most important features of the fashion show: casting director Samuel Ellis Scheinman and Walter Pearce mixed some of Lang’s original muses as Kristen Owen and Missy Rayder with some of Oliver’s favorites, as Selena Forrest who opened the runway.
They underlined the spirit of gender fluidity of the brand, without being influenced by boring Instagram models.
