Another stellar red carpet yesterday in Venice. “mother!”, directed by Darren Aronofsky, brought Michelle Pfeiffer, Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence to Lido. It was definitely one of the most awaited movies of the festival but the reaction from both critics and audience was tepid to say the least. Jennifer Lawrence ,star of the movie, shone regardless of boos and whistles, wearing first a Giambattista Valli lace dress for the photocall and later a Dior Couture gown for the actual premiere. Her costar, Michelle Pfeiffer in Dolce & gabbana and Michael Kors couldn’t steal her thunder. On a completely different note, a very understated Jim Carrey, in jeans and leather jacket, that had sailed into Venice for the world premiere of ”Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond”. A documentary that narrates the creative process he masterminded during production of 1999 Andy Kaufman biopic “Man On The Moon” that landed Carrey a Golden Globe.
