Matthieu Blazy‘s Bottega Veneta Spring Summer 2025 show was a deep conceptual reflection on metamorphosis and transformation, not only aesthetic but also social and philosophical. Through the use of powerful images such as the Sacco armchairs transformed into animals, Blazy proposed a discourse on fluidity and the ability of objects and bodies to change shape and meaning. The collection was part of a context of deconstruction of predefined identities, challenging the idea that at birth we inherit a fixed or immutable destiny and suggesting, through a dialogue between fashion and art, that garments can free themselves from sexualizing conventions and gender limits.
The reference to Body Art and Gina Pane strengthened the link between this collection and a broader reflection on the body as a means of expression and change, where the dress became part of a performance that questioned cultural norms. The concept of sincerity versus strategy reflected Blazy’s intent to free fashion from calculated and artificial logic, in favor of pure and playful creativity, expressed through garments that can change and adapt freely, as if their function was not fixed, but open to discovery and wonder.
