GEBRüDER ThONEt VIEnNa MAKES iTS DEbUT WITh HEAdBOArDS

The historic company from Vienna this year joins the 58th Salone del Mobile edition presenting its new collections that turn around the respect of the heritage not without looking at the future.

Between the severals news exhibited at the fair’s stand, the headboards stick out : brand new items for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna.

The company, in particular, presents three different proposals born from just as many collaborations. The Italian Architecture Studio Storagemilano signed the headboard “Ottow”, a renovated homage to Otto Wagner who in 1906 designed his famous “Postsparkasse” collection for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna.

“Yvette” headboard by Chiara Andreatti, instead, is inspired by Belle Époque, while GamFratesi have created “Rue”, proposed in two versions characterized by a different use of the iconic Vienna straw detail.

In addition to them other items to report are the “N.200” lounge chair by Michael Anastassiades, that celebrates the 200 years of the very first joiner’s workshop founded in Boppard by Michael Thonet and, finally, the “Caryllon” table collection designed by Cristina Celestino, a truly remind to the Gebrüder Thonet Vienna’s history. Adding a new rounded version from the retro allure and colored in blue tones, the collection is based on the recognizable square wood’s sections. To note the flower-shaped variation, available in two different height.
