The Buddhist monk, makeup artist, and LGBTQ activist shares his journey to self-acceptance in his memoir

Kodo Nishimura is an Artist, Buddhist monk, author and activist. He was born in Tokyo in 1989. He graduated from the Parsons School of design in New York. After graduating, he started to thrive as a makeup artist, working behind the scenes of Miss Universe and NY fashion week. After the makeup experience in 2015 Kodo started the training to become a monk and he rose fame followings appearance on “Queer Eye: We’re in Japan” He spoke at the United Nations Population Fund as an LGBTQ+ activist. He was selected by TIME magazine as a Next Generation Leader.

When I met Kodo in Milan I immediately understand that I was with one of the kindest people that I have ever met. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful and Kodo told me that he was enjoying Italy. We talked about fashion, social media and the changing inside of our society.
