A new wave of young designer are showing their collections in New York this season.
Matthew Adams Dolan, Australian-American, has already have made a name for himself with raw oversized denim worn by Rihanna and sold in the hippest boutiques worldwide.
With his SS 2018 collection the Parson’s graduate has played again with denim and proprotions mixing teeny micro skirts with huge shirts and with gender, creating an almost unisex collection with feminine clors and masculine stripes.
Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs’, a.k.a.Cushie and Ochs, known for their sexy and sensual little dresses, took inspiration from Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The dynamic duo took the prettier and more romantic side of Kahlo,concentrating on ruffles and hyper-realistic flower prints.
Proper, luxurious and colroful are the words that sum up Brandon Maxwell’s collection. The stylist-turned-designer, and Lady Gaga former fashion director, has draw inspiration from the elegant ladies of his native Texas for his fifth collection. Even his jeans are fit for a formal dinner.
Ulla Johnson’s collection is all about femininity and lightness. Flowered sheer nylon parkas are layered over sheer dresses, denim in stone washed to a supersoft finish and dyed or cut out and transformed in broderie anglaise. The effect is sweet and utterly feminine but always with Ulla’s slightly hippy chic twist.
