Some of the biggest names in film, fashion, entertainment and art gathered in Cannes to celebrate amfAR’s 30th anniversary for a magical evening of music, fashion and fundraising in support of groundbreaking research that is the only path to an AIDS cure

Last Thursday, the 23rd of May, as is customary, A-list celebrities gathered at the prestigious Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes for the 30th edition of the amfAR Gala Cannes. The black-tie gala has been dedicated to supporting AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and advocacy since 1985. This high-profile event takes place every year during the Cannes Film Festival and merges the best of philanthropy and fashion.
Hosted by Demi Moore, with performances by Cher, Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Jess Glynne, and presented by Chopard and the Red Sea International Film Festival, the gala maintained its exclusive nature while delivering an astounding show. For this year’s edition, $16 million was raised during the auction of one-of-a-kind luxury items, contemporary art, and a fashion show.
Some of the art pieces auctioned during the event included a painting created by Kenny Scharf during the six-day amfAR Gala Cannes artist residency, Andy Warhol’s 1964 artwork of Elizabeth Taylor, “Eve” by Alexander Calder, a photograph of Cher by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and “Anna,” the hyper-realistic painting by American artist Richard Phillips. Additionally, Chopard earrings in 18-karat rose gold set with brown and yellow diamonds, worn by Demi Moore during the Vanity Fair Oscars party, were also auctioned.

The event also included a runway show curated by Carine Roitfeld, featuring exclusive creations from labels such as Alaïa, Maison Margiela, Vivienne Westwood, Jacquemus, Schiaparelli, and others. This year’s theme was “Fairy Tales,” depicting an enchanting realm where fantastic characters merge through couture pieces evoking the spirit of fairy tales. As Carine Roitfeld claimed, the show would “transport us all back to the fairy tales of our childhood.” Some of the models participating in the show were Barbara Palvin, Karolina Kurkova, Faretta, Alyda Grace, and more. The pieces, which were up for auction, were immediately sold.

Demi Moore, the host of the night, wore a custom Loewe. Some of the other celebrities attending the prestigious event included Diane Kruger in Prada, Winnie Harlow in Vivienne Westwood, Alton Mason in Louis Gabriel Nouchi, Coco Rocha in Yanina Couture, and Heidi Klum in Lever Couture.
