Highlights from the Milan Fashion Week shows
Words and selection: Gianmarco Gronchi
With the Milan Fashion Week coming to an end, we relive all the best creations from menswear spring-summer 2023 collections. Milan seems to be back at its glory (pre-pandemic) day, with a fancy and thrilling atmosphere in and out the fashion shows. Foreign buyers have been back in town, and everybody was drenched in sweat nut happy to be there. but, most important, Milan has proved that it can still be a crucial centre for the fashion system. This time, research overcomes excesses and many fashion directors have been able to create something that really mirrors their vision about the present. No kind of nostalgia, no forms of empty frivolousness. For the most part, collections had what they should always have: a vision. And the vision is set on the definition of contemporary man. How many identities can he have? How many shapes could he take? Of course, there is no single definition. From the baggy disrupted streetwear to the high refined tailoring, from the boyish universe of Federico Cina to the sophisticated urban fantasy of Giorgio Armani, from Simon Cracker upcycling to the sartorial tradition by Zegna, man is set free to wear what he wants. And this Fashion Week allows every man to look at the future with the enchanted eyes of a child.
